Anything negitive about using a home replacement app?

Does using a home replacement app like Launcher Pro or Go Launcher drain battery life or slow your phone down ?

I dont think they'll be running at all, but if you're worried, just remove the lot of them and delete all the extra pages on the stock home page.

I use LauncherPro would never consider going back to the feckless stock launcher. I have no idea if LP is the best launcher and I don’t care; it works for me.

Is there any need to shut down widgets on the stock home page ?
I recommend removing everything from the stock home launcher. Don't know if it's absolutely necessary, but at least you'll know there's nothing running in the background you don't need. I'm in the Go Launcher camp. It does mostly the same thing as LP, but it's completely free!

Not sure on your phone but on HTC sense based phones, the widgets are still running so you have to set a blank slate on those homescreens.

Go is my favourite launcher.

Go Launcher seems to work well on my Galaxy S2. I tried Launcher Pro long time ago on my Desire. I liked it but had to pay for it. If I had to pay for one I think I would try SPB 3D
