Help Anyway to force a noise notice in silent?

Hi all,

I'd like to setup my Droid Razr Maxx to do the following...

While in silent or vibration mode, allow either a specific gmail account or specific contact (phone call and text) to "force" use the notification noise or ringtone, etc.

Basically here's the deal... I'm part of an emergecy team that is called out via email and text. When my phone's ringer is set to "loud" everything is fine since I can use my custom ringtones... but I still want to have this specific contact be able to make noise even if the phone is in silent or vibration mode while keeping all other emails and contacts follow the the silent rules so that I don't miss being "paged" or contacted as it were.

Ideally, something native to Android would be nice, but I'll consider an app as well.

Thanks for any help!!

Not sure if it works in GMail, but surely for calls - VIP Mode in Smart Actions.

Set a timeframe trigger and VIP caller mode as the action. When you add the VIP caller mode, it will ask you to add contacts from which calls should be treted as VIP.

hmm... I'll give that a try. Unfortunately calls are the least likely way they'll contact me... but maybe I can setup a VIP text or VIP email. Thanks!

If anyone else has suggestions please add them. :)

Do we have control over adding "new" rules or actions without a root? Basically, I think this would work IF I could set a rule like "on getting email/text from ABCD, then do the following".

Seems there are a few actions the phone can do... but few rules to trigger those events.

Thanks for the tip.

After reading that thread I think I'll wait for an official OTA update though.

Now, if someone knew how to unlock the Razr Maxx bootloader, then I'd jump on that, lol.

I guess this leaves me with trying to find an app that will do what I need or to find out if having root access would allow me to do what I need.

It looks like SMS Alert may do it if there is something unique in each text message that can be filter on to activate this app and it is well rated by users.

I use Tasker to filter calls at night so that only selected contacts cause the phone to ring. I'd bet that you could build a profile that would do the same thing for emails.

Hey, teknomedic, I got here via google, searching for the exact same thing for the exact same reason. AEMT here. Mobile, AL. ePro handles everything.

Unfortunately, this is all device-specific advice and I'm using a SPH-D700 so I'll keep searching but if I find something useful that not device-specific that suits this mutual purpose, I'll pop back over and share.

Thanks for the knowledge, y'all.
