Root Ap fastboot

I am new to rooting. I have a razr maxx with the ota jellybean 4.1.2on it.
Could someone please tell me what is ap fastboot for and how I put it on my phone.

I bricked my phone yesterday and managed to get it fixed using recovery, but someone says you can use ap fastboot files to recover your phone as well.

Fastboot is already on the phone.

In order to fix a Razr via fastboot you would have to have the files which aren't yet available for JB (to my knowledge). When the files ARE available, they would be wise to have.

With that said, you will also need a copy of RSD lite on your computer to transfer the fastboot information to your phone (once someone posts the files...)
