Ap mobile!!!!!

i got my s2 about a week ago and just now came across the threads that said the AP mobile widget is a huge data sucker and cannot be stopped or turned off even if u are not using the widget...has anyone else seen this issue or know what im talking about?? is their anyway to stop it from using data as im on the 2GB plan but still concerend i might go over my monthly limit since i am a heavy data user.......i have seen that the only way people have been able to stop it was to root their phone and install titanium backup???? i would be very interested in doing this to save my precious data but i have never attempted to root before and dont even know what titanium backup is...can someone pleasee help or point me in the right direction

AP mobile is a att preloaded widget on the phone..u can easily add it to any homescreen but people are noticing that when your not even using the widget it is constanly sucking data from the background and to my knowledge there is no way to actually stop it without root......@ mostly harmless thanx man im going to give it a shot as i have always been curious about how to root...also what are the chances of me bricking the phone in the process?

Well there is always a chance that something can happen, which is why when you read the xda link you will see the words "THIS WORKED ON MY AT&T SGS2, HOWEVER, I ASSUME NO RESPONSIBILITY IF IT BRICKS YOUR PHONE.", just about anywhere root instructions are given.

Being that, I followed those instructions step by step and in 5 minutes my phone was rooted, it was very simple. After I rooted I used titanium back to freeze all the apps I didn't want, including ap mobile. There are various post about which apps you can freeze without any ill effect (just need to search for them).

I suggest doing some reading into rooting the SGS2 on here and xda until you are comfortable with it.

Which apps can be frozen without any ill effect? I tried searching the AT&T section and saw nothing. Didn't want to try the international section because I wasn't sure if their firmware/software was the same.

Thanks!!
