.apk files

[Android Question]

Okay, I've looked everywhere and absolutely cannot find an answer to my problem. I'm using a rooted Nook tablet running JB 4.3.1 and I tried installing two different game apps, not from the android market. Even using an .apk installer, the apps install fine but only start up and stops at developer introduction screens (a few seconds into app). After that, the app just stops. Doesn't freeze, doesn't crash, just stops. How do I get them to work? Help!

Make sure they're compiled to run on a Nook running 4.3. Sounds as if they're looking for something that's not there, so they're just waiting, and a program will wait forever or until you close it.
