When I got my Galaxy it looked like it was taking my APN but I could not log in to google for anything. I did some searching and found a similar problem some people were having with brand new Hero's that required a factory reset. It's worth a shot.. (Settings > SD card & phone storage > Factory data reset) It resolved the issue I had at first.
