[App] Battery Monitor

Battery Monitor by Sim2k (Updated for Galaxy Nexus), now uses API level 15 (ICS) - Version 9.5+

Link to Android Market: Battery Monitor (includes screenshots).

Text-based battery % icon in notification bar and home screen widget.

IMPORTANT!!! - Version 9.5 and above is built on API 11+, Android 3.0+. The update required the removal of the 1% calculation for 2nd-init ROM's with broken charge_counters. Do not download the Market version if you're using a broken 2nd-init ROM that identifies itself as Android 3.0+. Use version 9.4, available here http://dl.dropbox.com/u/54446973/BatteryMonitor.apk

Auto-starts on system reboot.

Changelog (Android 3.0 - 4.0.3, API 11+):

Version 9.9 - Added invisible icon option.
Version 9.8 - Fixed bug only seen at first run.
Version 9.7 - Simplified Application Interface.
Version 9.6 - Battery usage fix for Android 4.0.
Version 9.5 - Updated for Android 4.0 (ICS).

Changelog (Android 2.3):

Version 9.4 - Fixed bugs and tweaked layout.
Version 9.3 - Customized button background.
Version 9.2 - Update to new user interface.
Version 9.1 - Fixed bug with 2nd-init ROM's.
Version 9.0 - 1% level changes for everyone.

I'd also like to ask that if anyone has a force close issue with my app on their device, please send me a report so I can fix it asap. Thank you.

I received a FC report yesterday for an ActivityNotFoundException when the user clicks on the Battery Usage button. Edit: Fixed.

Also, I should say that in the update it last night (Version 4.8 revision 36), I have given in to the charms of the charge_counter file on the DX. After looking at the market statistics for my app, the highest number of users are on the Droid X, followed by HTC devices, and nearly 90% of all people have Android 2.2. So since my estimation algorithm wasn't accurate enough for me and was mostly for the DX, I have temporarily removed the code. HTC devices are already accurate to 1% so the above users on the fore-mentioned devices won't notice anything, except that the DX will now be 100% accurate. I really have no idea how many devices return 10% increments/decrements, so please let me know if the 1% estimation is broken on yours and I'll consider re-instating the code. Thanks muchly.

Updated to Version 5.0

Just a clean-up of the Interface and added a notification when the battery usage activity fails to launch. Should be the last update for a while.

I've been grabbing everyone's phone the last 2 days. So far the app runs perfectly on DX, D2, O.G. Droid Samsung Fascinate, Evo and Samsung 4G(TMo). No problems and everyone I have shown has been excited about it. Incredible tomorrow. I have them all checking back with me at the end of the week to see what they thought. Great app man.

I've been using this one for a few days and I really like how it stays out of the way up in the notification bar. I also like how it shows 1% increments. One less thing to clutter my home screen.

Thank you, that's fantastic feedback. The kind I like :D.

Anything to report ?

Andy, good job on making the real levels for the battery show! Your app helps me to see that I still have to charge my Seidio 2880 ma battery well after the native system battery icon tells me that it is fully charged.

BTW, using an extended battery, is great that it lasts so long, but it is annoying to get the LED flashing in the notification area, telling me that I have only 10% or 5% power left, when I know that I have much more.

No, I am not yet rooted; & I'm using a Droid2 fm VZW ...

I can ignore it, but it would be nice to be able to tell the system that I have a different battery capacity...

Can you shed any light on this, please?

TIA,

Its starting to be a common request. I have looked at an option to suppress the built in alerts, but couldn't find anything in the android API. I will take another look and let you know.

Version 8.0 - Major update, includes all options from the now unpublished Pro version, new icons, new color schemes, alert / LED options and additional options for users of the Voltage based calculation.

For users of the Pro version, please uninstall and download "Battery Monitor" version 8.0 from the market (new icon), it's free. Thank you very much for the support, if only there were more of you.

Consolidating the two versions has made it a lot easier for me, and 400 downloads of the Pro version compared to over 33K+ downloads of the free version makes it hard to justify the extra work maintaining both.

I hope that isn't too inconvenient, but hopefully version 8.0 will smooth things over a bit. :D

Updated to Version 9.0 - this could be a major thing for a lot of people. Implemented 1% system returned level changes for all devices, all ROM's, even the 2nd init CM7 based ROM's that haven't had 1% level changes since the GB kernel. (Voltage-based remains unchanged). If anyone finds a device or ROM that my app does not give 1% values for, please let me know.
