Help App can't and won't uninstall!

I have a problem with Neoreader.

I saw that there was a brand new version on the market, but I seem to be unable to uninstall the old one. It doesn't show on the market, but it does show under the phones uninstall thingy, but there's no uninstall button. Then I tried going trough ASTRO, and found all the way in the back, but gives an error when trying. If if I just try to delete it it just says failed!

Even tried installing an uninstall app, but it can't even find it.

Any suggestions on how to get it away?

Try going into your settings>applications>manage applications.. click on the app you want to remove and a menu to manage that app should appear. Delete is among the options.

I have tried that. The delete button isn't even there

If you can't delete it, have you ever rooted your phone?

If you can't remove it from the list of applications, try and Force Close it, then try and uninstall it (or restart the phone and try and remove it)

Otherwise, there is no removing it unless you root your phone.

Have tried to Force close, but it's no good either!

And for some reason it only shows as an System app?

If you want to remove it, do a backup of everything and reflash the phone.

What I am thinking is if you installed it on 1.6, then you upgraded to 2.1 and now it won't let you remove it, because it was installed by another user....a user on 1.6.

Another way to remove it is to root the phone

Then download and install Titanium

Titanium Backup ? root | AppBrain Android Market

Then remove the app.

It is like the application you have was installed by another user or as root.

Im the only one who's had this phone.

And I think it is possible that it was installed before the update, but the update erased everything, and I had to install it again, so im not sure why it has done this.

I could also try connecting it tomy pc and see if o can find it and delete it that way?

You could try. But if it was installed in 1.6 then it might not allow you to remove it from 2.1

Before upgrading to 2.1 you should have completely removed every app you could and removed the folders they left behind.

I have no clue what folder you are looking to remove, but my guess is that it is not just on the SDCard and if it's not on the SDCard, then it will probably give you an error saying that it cannot remove something from the RAM because you don't have rights.

If you don't have the option to remove it, you could also try and install AppBrain and use it's uninstaller to remove the app, but if you can't remove it in there, then you can't remove it from the phone.

First thing I would do would be to download a Task Manager and make sure the app isn't running. If it isn't running I would try and remove it using Manage Applications. If it is unremovable in there, then the only way to remove it is to root the phone and download a program like Titanium Backup.

Or save some time and just do a backup of your contacts and stuff and reflash 2.1 using SEUS from Sony.

Neoreader is part of the SE package of apps and can't be uninstalled unless you root the phone. It's the same with the rest of the lame-ass apps like timescape, mediascape, moxier etc that I want to get rid of.
