Apps app development questions

so im wanting to develop an app that automatically updates an image file weekly from a server or by sending an email to lets say a gmail account that the app uses pulls the file and sends a notification to the user informing them of the update.
if your wondering in more detail the img file will be a weekly work schedual any and all pointers would be greatly appreciated.

btw this is my first post if this is in the wrong place mods you can move it:D

Anything wrong with just using Google Calendar? I am pretty sure it will do everything you want.

not what im wanting. my employees were asking me about an app for their phones for the schedual. were going green and want to cut back paper usage. all is fine and dandy for google calendar if it were for just me. but im wanting to notify and keep 30 employees updated on their schedules each week.

Pretty sure Google calendar does everything you want. I have multiple schedules on mine that can be accessed by any subscriber I allow, can send updates via email or text when changes occur, import/export calendars from other people, etc... There is a ton of things it can do. Plus, it works on just about any pc, mac, phone and tablet made.

You might want to check it out and see what it can do before you dismiss it. Why reinvent the wheel if you don't have to?

I've moved this to our applications development forum to get some better eyes on it.:)
