App disabling

Hi Marios1441,

With the more recent releases of Android, you should be able to Disable any pre-installed apps that you don't want to use. Settings > Applications > All > Application Name Here, then tap Disable. The Disable option will be where the Uninstall button usually is.

Alternatively, I used an app once upon a time to manage which apps were allowed to run at system boot: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rs.autorun

The latter is a bit more risky, as you could potentially cause problems by unofficially-disabling the wrong thing. Just be sure you know what you're doing with each app you try to stop. Keep in mind that a lot of applications (particularly those pre-installed on the phone) may depend on other pre-installed applications to work.

If the app can be disabled as codesplice suggested, that is the way to go. His comment about co-dependency is right on as well. For instance, I discovered that disabling S Voice on the S4 (which I did not use or want) broke the functionality of S Translate, which I did want to use.

As far as apps that inhibit other apps from starting, I can recommend Startup Manager. The problem with these type of apps is that they are sometimes worse than doing nothing. Why? Because some apps not only start at boot, but are also triggered on when your online state changes (e.g., data on/off, wifi on/off). Since online state is inevitable, the app you kill will just start again, thus draining more resources than if you had left it alone. Try it and see is the only way to find out if there is a benefit for you.
