How to stop apps from appearing on my galaxy s3 on its own

It would be nice to know a little more about your problem. I'm going to take some guesses, but if I'm wrong could you post again with a more detailed description of the issue?
If you are getting short cuts added to your homescreen whenever you install an app (as well as in the app drawer) then go to the Play Store settings and there is an option to turn this off.
If short cuts that look like apps are appearing without you having installed the app, you probably have an app installed that's using "push advertising" or "push notifications". The way to stop this is to identify the app that uses this and uninstall it. Try installing an app called Addons Detector, run a scan, then see whether any of your apps use push notifications. This practice has just been banned from the Play Store, but you may still have an app that uses this on your phone, in which case removing the app is the cure.
