App downloads through USB to my Computer???

Hi, I have just rooted my phone GB 2.3.3 Kernal version 2.6.29-0054 etc.

My router is down and I cannot hook up my X10. Is there a way of downloading apps to my computer and then installing them? Every time I get an Install option instead of a download one.

Any ideas?


Also if I copy off a webpage I get saved to clipboard.....OK great but where can I find my clipboard LOL..Thanks

Aslo I was suggested to download titanium back up to start creating a back up and then to use it to get rid of the bloated apps....Good idea? Any other great ideas to start taking advantage of the root possiblity?

Thanks ...john (and before anyone suggests it, yes I am reading up everywhere as much as I can about all of this).

edit okI found where I can download apk files. So I will use the Sony Phone companion to drag it to where? create a folder on thew SD card and drag over? thankls
 
Don't forget to check the box under Applications that says Unknown Sources (which allows you to play apk files that it is not able to verify)

Yes, and it seems you have found it...downloading apk's.

Titanium Backup is a good app for rooted users, I only use it to remove programs though, for backups I use MyBackup*Root. I'm assuming you have xRecovery on your phone since it's rooted (although not necessarily), you can use that to make a complete backup of your rom once you get it all dialed in how you want it. That way if anything ever happens you always have a full backup ready to be restored.

No need to use any program to get the apk's, or any other files you want on your phone from your PC. When you connect the phone via usb cable, simply pull the drop down menu and select "USB Connected", that will allow you to turn on usb storage so you can transfer files to and from your phone by dragging and dropping, can't get any easier than that.

Getting the apk's to your phone is one thing, but you're gonna have to access them and be able to install them and eventually you'll need to change permissions for something so you're gonna need a file explorer. Root Explorer is the best! A must have for rooted users. You can use that program to install mods to your phone, install apk's, change permissions, etc., it gives you access to the root file system of your phone. It's a paid app on the market but the apk can be found on the web :cool:

The Eagles wallpaper, or whatever it is called lol, does it come with the battery application.

Hey I remember when computers were not in schools so the my techie language is not alway exact ahaha

I made a thread here for the battery mod but you've gotta be rooted to use it.
