App-finding help (related to text display)

Hello,

A few months ago, a recent phone update (Samsung Galaxy III) led to text messages (and senders) being revealed on the phone screen, with a good portion of the initial text also showing, just from turning the phone on (even if locked).

Is there an application available which hides both the text and the sender from display on the lock screen? Perhaps just show an indicator, like how a BBM message shows an indication?

This is for privacy, ofcourse. It used to do this, and for some reason this update seemed to change it and eliminate a form of privacy.

I've looked and looked but found nothing that does it for me.

I don't want an app that hides text messages, or holds them in vaults, etc. I have a password on my phone, I just want to stop my texts from being on display, as well as the sender's names.

Please help!

The preview of the message on your lock screen is a function of the Messaging app. To turn it off, do the following:

Go into your Messaging app.
Press the Menu button.
Select Settings.
Uncheck Preview message.

@stuntman The OP is referring to the 4.3 update for TouchWiz. In that case, turning off preview also turns off the notification bar alert. It still sounds up and has a counter on the message icon though.

You can use a third party sms app like EvolveSMS or Handcent if you want more control on your notifications.
