App for translating IP address to hostname?

I'm using an app on my Droid X called IControlAV2 to control my Pioneer receiver. I'm using it remotely over 3g by specifying in the app my public IP address and the port that I'm forwarding from my router to my reciever.

The problem is I don't have a static IP so it could change. The app is stupid because it only allows specifying an IP address rather than a hostname which would do a DNS lookup.

Are there any apps that can trap a request to specific local IP and translate the request to a dns lookup for the actual IP?

Yes, but that doesn't work when I'm out of range of wifi or when I'm away and my wife calls me because she want me to put pandora on in zone 3.

dyndns.org and get a free dynamic DNS name.

Exactly. I want to be able to enter an IP address into the app which won't take a hostname but only a formatted IP address and then have something in one of the network layers intercept the request from any app to a specific local IP and translate it to the external public IP address by doing a dns lookup on my dyndns.org hostname. FYI, it's not so easy to get a free dyndns domain any more. You have to do a free trial and give a CC. Fortunately I got mine years ago before they changed it.

Unfortunately, in this app I'm using, I can't specify a domain name, only a strictly formatted numeric IP address. It's really lame.

All the other apps I have that do something similar like my cam viewer app allow me to specify my host name and a port.
