Help App for using S Pen in .xls files?

I have a good friend who is in IT, and has to sign quite a few documents, some of which are "Excel" documents. He was asking me if there is a way to use the S Pen to sign "Excel" docs (.xml is the extension I got on my phone) or if there is a setting he is missing. He got me curious about this and I couldn't quickly find an answer.

We are both on Verizon if that makes a difference.

Using Office suite 7 you could "insert picture" and then use freenote or similar to write your signature and insert it in the document

I've heard of people saving documents as PDF and then signing them from there. Maybe that will work??

Spreadsheets saved as pdf files can be worked on using applications similar to Lecture Notes. Placement using a picture is rather hit and miss.
