App for Wireless file transfer

Hello, whenever I want to transfer file between my PC and my Android, I have to connect it with a USB cable, I'm wondering if there is a way to do it wirelessly like WiFi...

There are 2 ways you can achieve this: Cloud Storage or Remote Wireless Apps.

Cloud storage is basically a storage area in the internet. iCloud, DropBox and Sugarsync are popular cloud storage systems. Basically you have a folder in your PC linked to a internet service (like dropbox.com or sugarsync.com). Whatever you put in those folders are uploaded immediately to those websites, and depending on the setup on your phone, you can have it downloaded automatically or you can use the app to access the online storage and download the apps on demand. Some apps like iCloud and Dropbox are fairly simple and straightforward sync folders, while Sugarsync and Skydrive offer added features.

Remote apps include AirDroid, Remote Web Controller, Kies Air, and similar apps. Basically if you have your phone and your PC on the same WiFi network, activating the app allows you to open an interface on a browser which you can use to export files from your PC to your phone or vice versa, apart from other features (answer SMS from your laptop for example, even if the phone is downstairs.)

I just use my Blue Tooth, if your computer doesn't have BT just get a cheap $5 dongle from Walmart or where ever. This was the whole idea of Blue Tooth quick wireless transfer, not just for headsets ...lol...once you get it paired it is easy to connect when you want too transfer, and you can transfer both ways fm phone to computer or computer to phone, little bit slower then usb cable, but not by much, I transfer video files in under a minute.

I use swiftp myself. It creates an FTP server on your phone that you can login to from your computer with filezilla and the like.

I am curious, does this solution require any Internet connectivity? I was thinking your phone get connected to Internet, then run the app to start like a FTP server. Then your PC is connected to Internet, you connect to the FTP server that is running in your smart-phone to do file upload/download correct?

I was still thinking the OP is wanting a way to transfer files between PC and smart-phone without the need for any Internet connectivity (third medium so as to speak). The closest I can think of is Bluetooth which is really between PC and smart-phone. But you need to fit your PC with a Bluetooth device (which is quite cheap) though.

You start the app, and you connect via wifi on your local network. So it never connects to internet itself. I know not everybody has wifi setup at there house, but a lot of people do. So its all in all pretty seamless.
