[APP] GoogHacks - Your Guilt-Free File-Finding Nerd

Switching to GoogHacks Lite - this was a flop :|

GoogHacks

Description
GoogHacks is an easy-to-use tool that exploits Google's immense search capabilities to help you locate all those files and rare songs you normally can't find! Instead of making you sort through the web for that one thing you're looking for it uses some of Google's built-in filters to hack around the "front door" and into the juicy goodies hiding at the root of each website! Its like having your own nerd without all the guilt of having to beat him up first!

I'd like to introduce a nice little app I threw together while trying to brainstorm some ideas for useful things the android app market doesn't have. GoogHacks is the result! It was a quick project, and certainly needs some testing, but thus far it has returned no errors (really because the only thing even remotely advanced about it are the search-strings) on anyone's device, so I have released it to the market to be torn apart or adored.

Well, give it a shot if you're interested, and don't let the basic layout turn you off to it -- its very effective in what it does. If anyone has any trouble, please PM me or leave a comment. Also, if you like it please give it some positive feedback. I appreciate it guys! Feel free to make any comments/suggestions that you would like -- I am new to the android app dev world, so I'm open to any tips you may have.

Again, its GoogHacks!

Thank you,
TN Dev

Just to clarify. The app routes around the websites and takes you to the Index of - thus giving you a folder-style list of all the files you'd normally have to dig through 1,000s of websites to find. (And probably wouldn't find as a result.)

So, theoretically you could download any song, any ebook, any text file, or any compressed file you are looking for.

For example, the first link after searching for Pink Floyd, returns:
attachment.php

Basically gives you the wide-open back door to the internet.

Hope that clears things up.

Thanks.

Here is a list of App Features that I am planning to implement, and what I'm working on now:

- Compatibility! (1st Priority) [No Reports So Far]
- Customizable Searches (2nd Priority)
- Filtering fake/dead websites
- General Preferences (SafeSearch, Filesize, etc.)
- Pretty Graphics
- Developer Blog

Short-Term Current Development:
Custom Search Interface - This interface will allow you to build your own, custom search strings via my app, allowing you to filter in and out what you are looking for. This should take things from "capable" to "powerful" really fast. I'm using SQLite, for anyone that is interested, its slower than other data-storage options, but more dynamic and suited to what I want to do with this feature.

Long-Term Current Development:
More Thorough Filtering - This is really an on-going project, as it is a difficult thing to find all the possible websites out there that mimic the "Index of" formatting. Fortunately after finding the page, filtering it out is quite simple. Maybe at some point I'll take a poll and build a database of websites from the results.

this is a really cool idea! i'd love to check out the updated version in the future :)

OH GOD FEEDBACK, THANK GOD! I, uh... sorry...

I'm excited about it too! GoogHacks Lite gives some really great results, but they are limited to certain file-types and searches. It has been averaging about 10 installs a day, so as interest increases I will finish up my code for the customized "hacks" interface and release it for beta testing.

If you're interested, I have a blog I keep updated on my development progress and shaky deadlines. Its not really technical or anything, but does a good job of keeping you posted on where I am and what apps I'm developing.

Check it out if you're interested: T.N.D.T. Blog - Active Android App Development Team

Thanks for your input, its encouraging!
