App grouping help

Hello,

I am wondering if someone can help please?

I have an app that I use to control lighting in my home. The app has a slight flaw, whereby it only allows me to set a maximum number of groups to 4. I am wondering what would be the best way to see if I can increase the groups from 4 to say 5, 6 or even more?

I wouldn't be too sure where to look for this coding wise.

Would anyone be able to help with this?

What application are you using to control your lighting? That may help us help you :D
 
Do you have a link to the app on the Play Store or Amazon App Store?

I'm a bit leery of shortened/obfuscated redirects on my work computer ;)

I'm afraid there's not really a way to change how that application works short of contacting the developer and making a feature request.

Thank you for your response. How straight forward would it be to create my own version of the app (completely different)?

I am looking to add features such as a security option (whereby it will switch the lights automatically on and off at random intervals when there is no one at home). I am also looking at the possibility of amending the way the grouping currently is.

Are there any guides / manuals that might be able to help me? As it involves other hardware (a wifi controller) and my mobile phone to exchange data - an useful guides / support would be much appreciated.

Thanks for your message.

Do you know how I can see / test the limitations of the bulbs by any chance? At the moment, the app allows 4 groups to be created. Would anyone know how I can test to check if 5, 6 or more groups can be created?

By groups, I mean the bulbs can be associated to specific groups, which then allows the bulbs in that specific group to be controlled together.

Any kind of help would be much appreciated.
