[App help] Google voice?

Anyone kknow how to set up Google voice for voice mail? I am running CM7 and sprint VCMC doesn't work so I was gonna give gv a shot. The problem is after I complete the set up and activate voicemail on the gv site, it doesn't work. Of I try and call my phone it just says it can not complete your call please try again later. Not real sure what I am doing wrong or missing here. If anyone has some insight please help! Thanks!

I assume then that you didn't read the instructions presented to you when you activated google voice to be your voicemail for your phone? After you activate it on the website, you use *28 on your phone.

*28 + Google Voice Phone Number and hit send. That will forward calls to that number instead of sprint voicemail.

I did read the instructions and yes I did type the *28 with the number following it. Your assumption is wrong my friend.

When it comes to instructions, mcl, the OP is the best in the business at giving them and helping others figure instructions out. I will go on a limb and say he did read the instructions... :)

Wrap, don't know... keep in mind that Sprint sometimes has weird fluctuations with GV. If you try again later, it might very well work.

Just for kicks, I called myself to make sure it wasn't a sprint/google problem. It worked fine, so something else weird must be going on. I seem to remember hearing about this happening before, but I can't remember why, now. Give me a bit, and I'll see if I can find out anything.

I appreciate the kind words! I in fact finally got it figured out... Apparently you need am actual gv # (which wasn't in the instructions ;) ). GV rocks so far!

Wait, is the call even completing? I mean, does it just give you that message when you call the phone, and never even ring? Or is it giving you that message when it should be going to voicemail (and the phone still rings). Those are pretty different problems.

EDIT: Ah, yeah, you do indeed need a gv number :). Enjoy gv. I like it a lot better than the stock voicemail.
