Help [App help] Issues with backing up SMS for text message transfer

So I had a Note 2 and just bought my Nexus 6. Using SMS backup, it's been 6 hours and it's still not done backing up.

I tried Wondershare MobileTrans trial, it failed.
I tried Wondershare MobileGo trial, and it will backup my Note2, but it will shut down whenever my Nexus is plugged in.
I paid for EasyBackup, but Nexus 6 fails to restore from Dropbox.
I paid for another app, but found out that you have to root both phones to transfer that way, and I don't know how to or want to root my phone right now.
I paid for Helium full app, and it syncs the apps but not the texts.

I'm so frustrated at this point and would really appreciate some advice on how to do this.

Thanks!

How many messages do you have?

I have several thousand (I think about 5k) and "SMS Backup and Restore" can back them up in less than a minute. "SMS Backup+", which automatically backs up to Gmail, is a lot slower restoring but because it's automatic you can be sure you have a backup.

Being rooted and having the paid version of Titanium Backup I actually use that mainly, which is very fast and reliable. But that does require root.
