[app help] Swype -- help with contractions

a-dogg

Newbie
So I use swype as my main keyboard and am having trouble with it automatically adding apostrophes to contractions and possessives. If I swype "theres" I'd love for it to change that to "there's".

I've tried adding the word to the user dictionary, but that doesn't seem to help.

Am I doing something wrong?

Type the word: there's then hit the space bar, go back and high light it and include the space after the 's, then tap the Swype key.

if you swype t - h - e - r - e - . - s it will enter "there's" because it knows the apostrophe is on the "." key.

Ah very good! Didn't know that! Still kind of a PITA though. IMO we use the conjunction way more frequently in daily speak. Should just be default. But, that is a nice tip. Thanks!

Yeah it would be great if swype learned the words you use most and populated them instead of others with similar patterns. I don't know how many times I delete ifs and manually type is.

berky93, thank you SO much. Now I wonder what other swype secrets are out there. Kinda like the In-N-Out burger secret menu...

I live in Sisters, Oregon and swype almost always thinks I want to type Sister's. Odd. I don't swype anywhere near the period key.
