Help App Icons Change To Generic Android Icons??

I hope i can explain this. This ONLY happens in folders. I made 2 folders on my phone's homepage. (long press on homescreen and click on new folder) One called Games and the other called Utilities. Sometimes when I click on a folder and it opens, some of my app icons change to a generic android icon. For example.... right now, Angry Birds used to have a red bird icon but now it shows a white box with a green android in it. 4 of my icons in my utilities are generics too. I can correct this by removing the apps from the folder and then dragging them back into the folder. This is a pain though.

This doesn't happen to apps on my homepage or other pages of my phone. Only in folders I make.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Why is this being moved to the HTC Inspire forum? I would think this could happen to any android phone. I'm not being rude. :)

Ever figure this out? It is happening on my rooted Inspire4G with 2.2. Same symptoms as you. Icons that I have in folders will change to the default Android icon. Not all apps in the folders, just most of them. Doesn't matter if the app is on phone or SDcard. There was one time where the app icons magically came back (without phone reboot or anything else being done), but then they changed to the Android default again. Internet search shows lots of people reporting this symptom, but nobody with a solution.

I had this happen when I swapped out SD cards. Strangely enough, it happened with Angry Birds, Angry Birds Rio, and Angry Birds Seasons. I just assumed that it was an issue with the swapping of SD cards.

I think the icon change might indicate that the ROM is no longer installed on your SD card or internal memory. Once I redownloaded the Angry Birds games, I didn't have any problems.

Sorry that I didn't provide much of an answer (aside from a possibility of your app no longer on your device). Hopefully you can figure it out.

I have only seen this happen when i have apps moved to my sd card and it seems to unmount then remount itself then I get the lil green android icon instead of the actual app icon. The quickest way I got it to correct was to go into the settings sd & storage and unmount the sd card then mount it again.

This is for people who have Launcher Pro only.. but I have noticed a lot of people having the issue. The only fix I found was to go to your Launcher Pro settings and restart Launcher Pro. The problem happens all over if the device reboots, but it's at least an instant temporary fix. Please spread the word on this as I accidentally figured it out today and since have gotten it work every time when recreating the issue.

It happens on Galaxy S2's with GoLauncherEx as well.
(And if I flip back over to TW, they are gone [genetic icon] from there, too).
I use AppMonster anyways, so it's real quick to re-install the lost app(s) from the market or the back-up (archive) with just 2 quick clicks.

This has happened to me as well. It was not a problem other than cosmetic. You can try to restart your launcher. It never was solved in my case until I flashed a different rom. If you are not rooted this will not be any help tho. Reset whatever launcher you are using and start fresh.
