Re: app icons (shortcuts) on our phone screens: is there a way to just show the icon w/o its name underneath? The letters are not always displayed (depending on length of name) and it would really help to clean up the screen. Just curious.

With the default launchers installed on most devices, I don't believe so. However, alternative launchers like Nova, Apex or ADW allow you to change and or remove the app names.

You can get rid of the names if you use a seperate launcher like Nova..
