App Notification Toggle

Hey folks. I'm hoping for some help on a particular profile/toggle I'd like to create.

I use Lightflow to control on my notifications on my phone. I have notifications turned off for my work email. Would go off way too often if I had it turned on. And usually I am at my desk anyways and get it there (or on the tablet where I get audible alerts).

But occasionally, when I am out of the office and know I am waiting for an email, it'd be nice to get a sound, LED and vibration alert without having to go into Lightflow and enacting it.

So my idea is to create a button through Tasker that would enact a ~60 minute window in which if I did get an work email (I use K9 for work email), Tasker would to the job of notifying me of it through sound, vibration and LED. After that 60 minute window, the notification monitoring would expire.

Any ideas? Not sure where to even start.

For starters:
Create Profile / Event / 3rd Party / K9 email received.
(I don't think I downloaded any special plugin to get that choice, but check the market if you don't see it).

The rest should be easy. One way:
* Add an action to notify whenever the profile fires.
*Create separate toggle button widget to toggle a notification variable.... let's call it %WorkEmailNotification ....to 1 or 0.
* Add another condition / state / variable value condition to your profile so that it only fires when %WorkEmailNotification has a value of 1
* If you are getting non-work emails in your K-9 and don't want to fire for those, you'll have to add some logic to discriminate. That logic can take the form of either an additional profile context or an if/then condition within the profile's called task. I don't know enough about your situation to even begin to suggest how you'll discriminate work from non-work emails arriving in k9.

I assume the sticking point was finding the K-9 email event, so didn't go into much details on the rest. Feel free to ask questions if it's not clear

Excellent, I think I got it set up.

Tell me if you think this is the most efficient, stable way:

Task:
(enacted by Tasker widget on home screen)
Variable Set, %WorkNotify to "2"
Wait 1 hour
Variable %WorkNotify to "0"

Profile:
K9 Email Received
Variable Value %WorkNotify, Maths: Great Than, 1
>
Vibrate Pattern, Notify Sound, Notify LED

Seems like it's working well at this point. Only annoyance is that Tasker requires a notification when playing the profile, so I get a notification for the sound and LED. Doesn't appear that's removable at this point.

I went with the "Maths: Great Than, 1" as the "Matches, 1" option didn't seem to work.

I guess you're getting more notifications in notification bar then you want.
Instead of alert / notify-sound... use media / play-ringtone / notification. There will be sound but no notification generated by that command.
