Help app or a way to disable data when not in use?

well im sure a few of you remember i had an ordeal with my data about a week or so ago. after messing with my data settings for abit. the data has been disabled and not been used since. i'm awaiting my new bill cycle to start soon.

My question is basically is there an app or a particular way to just turn off data use completely when your not using the phone? mind you i still have full use of using the phone to make calls, and send texts and picture messages. as of now my data has not been draining at all because its disabled for the moment because i set it to stop after 200 megs. my clock/ weather widget still seems to be functioning correctly. everything else is just off which i don't mind.

so any info or insight on a app or way to just simply shut off data when not in use would be greatly appreciated thanks guys !! :)

my service provider is T mobile.

I'm guessing the mobile data toggle isn't there on your phone? As that's the standard way I switch data off on mine.

Mobile data is required to send a picture message via text message btw, just in case you figure it out and hit an issue there that a few others have.

There are "battery saving" apps that turn off data when the screen is off but the problem is that when you turn the screen on, all these apps are gona sync. I think its better to adjust the settings of each web app

No i don't have a data toggle. that might be an option we don't get over here. i think i've sent out a picture message already with my data disabled.

Battery power isn't really the issue. i checked through them recently and to se what was eating the data but only thing that seemed to eat the most was the google play store and text messaging. everything else seemed to be at low or moderate data useage levels.

Texting doesn't use data, unless it's MMS or through apps such as WhatsApp. For the Play Store, disable automatic downloads over data. Also, in settings, go to data usage a restrict background data usage for it.

Yep, unless texts are somehow linked with an over zealous social app they should not be a battery issue. Playstore will only be if something went wrong for a one off issue. Data radios are the number one battery burner if in weak signal areas. The S3 is awful in that regard. I turn the data radios off using the toggle switch that stock has.

i've never seen a data toggle switch on mine. all i have is the Wifi toggle, blue tooth, gps, etc

Your carrier firmware must have it removed grr. Search Data Toggle in playstore. Ive defo seen a few widgets that do it

Guessing Who's Your Carrier?

If you have tasker set it up to turn mobile data off when the screen turns off and only switch itself back on when you use a particular app.
