Help App Problems With New SanDisk Card

It makes a little sense because some apps won't work on the SD card. However, those apps usually won't let you move them to the SD card in the first place.

Just because it says "Sandisk" and you bought it on Amazon, be very careful and check it as GLC said.

Also, I would use the browser to use Facebook. The FB app is a memory hog. You'll save alot of space.

Disk is genuine and I have a page on Facebook with over 20,000 followers so I'd rather use the app. ;)
 
Disable any apps you don't use, and make sure any updates of those programs are uninstalled.
This will prevent installing unused updates.
 
Your Apps may not have really been on your SD card. Can you take the 4gb card and read it on a computer to see if any of those Apps are still there?

I think after the ICS update, Apps no longer work from the SD cards on non-rooted phones, therefore, I don't believe your phone was really running your Apps from the 4gb card. It may have been looping back to the internal memory.

Just read the 4Gb card and all the apps are there. Pandora, FB, IG and some other stuff.
 
Just out of curiosity, does that 32gb micro SD have a write protect switch on it? Can you try to copy any file in a media folder to see if it will write to it?

Just saved some photos to the card...no problem...so I don't think it's write-protected. Going to try one more time to mount the card again and move the apps to it. If it doesn't work I'm just at a loss. :(
 
How long ago did you move those Apps to the 4gb card? I'm not sure on how often Boost Mobile sends Android OS updates but things may have changed if you did this a while ago. One other test is to erase everything on the 4gb card > Reformat and then try to move an App to it. That may help to confirm either your 32gb is DOA/Fake or those Apps can no longer be moved.

Let's reevaluate..what he says is right..if I were you I would return that card simply because it comes from God knows what Chinese dollar store through Amazon(not because is SanDisk)..it happens all the time..
In regards to the amount of gbs your phone can handle..he was right too..I forgot to mention that my phone is rooted..and that's the only reason it holds the the 120 GB card..unfortunately all the bloatware stock apps on your phone makes it not strong enough to hold that..and it makes sense that the ig was moved but the fb was not because of the fact that is so so so heavy..
So my advise..return that card and go buy one in macrocenter..you might get lucky with that one..I recommend you the one branded Samsung..

I just looked back and saw that you WERE able to copy a file onto the 32gb card so I take it that it's a good card.

One other thing! When attempting a 'Move to SD' (which doesn't necessarily mean it will) from the App in your Application manager, do you 'Force Stop' first as a possible 'MOVE' cannot be instructed while any part of that App is actively running in the background. You'd need to 'Force Stop' and the try 'Move to SD Card'.
 
He just gave me an idea..use the 4GB card..move all your apps that you are trying to move in the 4GB card..THEN..turn off your phone..take the card out..copy all the data from that 4GB card into the 32GB card via computer..when everything is copied slide the 32gb card into your phone..DO NOT TURN YOUR PHONE UNTIL YOUR 32GB CARD IS INSIDE THE PHONE..

I like your thinking, but as Apps constantly update, the files on the 4gb Micro SD may no longer be current and may not even function if the phone no longer has the ability to read the App from an external SD.

Going to try that with force stop now. Also @androidmachine I formatted the 32GB card on my laptop so NOW I know what fat32 refers to! ;) If none of this works then I WILL return the card @Xavier Black :thumbsupdroid: But it was a US company with 100% favorable reviews.
 
Like I mentioned previously, before sending the card back - ERASE>REFORMAT the 4gb card (1st backup files you may have on that card to your computer) and then see if you can move the FB or IG Apps to it. If you can't move those same Apps to it then you'll know that it wasn't anything to do with the 32gb Sandisk card you just bought.

Some apps may be written/coded/etc... to not work well,or,at all,if moved to the SD Card.
As for formatting,you can do that with your phone.
I've never had to format a SD Card out-of-the-box to get it to work,unless I was doing some mod like an internal memory swap/etc... which is not what's going on here.
You should be OK with the card as-is,especially since the SD Insight app showed it is a legit card.
My next step would be to contact the app developer(s) & see what they have to say.
As for moving the apps,when you can,not all of the app data will be transferred to the external SD Card,so,if you have some resource hogs,they're still gonna take a hit on your internal storage.
 
Well that didn't work either. :( So, formatting and remounting the new card didn't work. Force stop and clearing cache didn't work. Rebooting phone didn't work. Taking out the battery didn't work. So just to try it out...I put my original 4GB SD card back into the phone and tried to move the apps back to it. Same exact problem. Black screen for messenger, blue screen not loading for FB and frozen for IG. So either both cards are crap which isn't possible since I used that 4GB SD for over a year or there's something I'm missing and I'm at my wit's end.
 
Well, that could mean that the apps updated since they were working on your SD card and now they no longer work on SD cards. That's especially true since you said they were working for over a year. I doubt they updated while they were on the 4 gb card for the same reason why you can't install to an SD card.
 
I had a feeling nothing would really work in the end because any updates to your Apps (FB, IG, etc.) rendered what was moved to your 4gb card to be useless files. The updates basically reinstalled those Apps on your internal SD and you were thinking they were working off of your external micro SD the whole time. Here's a link to support what I'm saying.
