App Request?

i don't believe the G1 is capable of this. not yet at least. a future update, (maybe part of the cupcake update) might enable it though.

Really stupid they did not add it i mean bluetooth file transfer are like on every phone but thanks for the reply

From what I understand there was a security issue with BT file transfer, and since this is a minor feature that most people don't know about, let alone use, they decided to leave it out for now and develop it for later.

a minor feature that most teenagers will use to send each other stuff.

Even us non-teens have been sending files, pics, vcards and such for years via infared, and BT...

So most of us, I think, are expecting a full featured BT implementation in the future ...

not sure the BT will even be needed since it at least to me appears the development is leaning more to ad-hoc connections and apps like discover which allows wifi connection from phone to pc without the usb cable is proof of what's to come IMHO...

Maybe ??? but we still live in a world of sharing with no wifi present (cell to cell) ... and the need for instant transfer ... on the spot ...

While I agree the BT is a nice feature is it really needed? It's only useful when your standing right in front of someone and you could easily transfer via email, text etc... No one I know is sending large amounts of info via bt maybe a few pics or songs at most... where as the ad-hoc will eventually allow as much or as little access as you want to give and from short or long distances etc... so in theory you could stream a movie from someone elses phone or even open and edit docs and so on... right now if where to allow you into my home network using remote desktop and ran discover it would allow you to see, edit, download and run things from my phone... eventually we won't have to it that way... I'm sure there are people who are trying to accopmplish the direct wifi - wifi connection but who knows maybe BT is the wave of the future and i'm totatlly wrong...

I think WiFi/BroadBand will be the next wave ... We all will be able to carry a portable BroadBand/WiFi unit, no larger than a pack of cards .... and we will be able to share that personal WiFi with anyone or any WiFi capable device .... Novatel is on the verge of releasing

... I want one to be on Verizon so I will have full-time access to phone & web services even while underground on the city's metro trains ...

Also sharing my broadband with others will be nice...

Yeah, I was aware of the development of it hence statements towards the ad-hoc thing but I did not know that it was that close to release... and I am hoping for tmo...

Not being First is OK ... as long as we get it :)

Yeah, but as a whole this Country has no patience don't let the mases find out we'll be finishing in second or even third place when it comes to wifi tech... on the other hand it'll be nice for a change to let someone else work out the bugs first so we can mass produce it here instead of the other way around...

Well their World Headquarters are in San Diego Ca... so we are leading in that concern ...

I'm sure Google can change that and make sure you get it first like everything else and the restrict the rest of the world whilst doing it.

Think I smell some sour grapes ... Latitude isn't all that ... at least for me ... not needing to know exactly where others are ... and no friends with G1 .. they are mostly iphonies :)

Latitude is all that for me. And where does it ends, Latitude works on most handsets that support Java and I have many friends running it on non android handsets.

It's not the first thing to be restricted/left out outside the US and it seems to be setting a precedent so what next? Applications are now coming out that are primarily US based with no date or info on when that may change.

Not sour grapes point out a fact that is all and making it known
