App Store

Hi

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 and am having problems using the app store. The problem is that when I'm browsing apps and reach the 500th app, the system stops and displays the message: "Authentication required. Please log into your Google account."

When I do this it makes no difference. When I clear the cache on the app store app, it makes no difference. It means that I'm limited to browsing only 500 apps and no more.

I've tried searching for a solution but whilst others have had this problem there seems to be no definitive answer to what to me seems a pretty serious flaw.

Can anyone help?

Many thanks
YC

Uh, why dont you log in to your Google account? Do you have one configured on the phone or did you skip that registration when you turned it on?

You would be surprised the questions we get sometimes. ;)

There have been times where people had issues if they didn't configure their gmail immediately after starting their phone.

Have you tried a factory reset yet?

Is this a brand new phone to you... Had it for a few weeks... ?

As odd as it sounds, try logging into the Talk app THEN try the market again.

Hi

No I haven't. Did a reset last week for an unrelated problem and it was a lengthy job. Seems a drastic measure for something that is only a glitch. I can't be the only person who has had this problem surely?

Thanks

Erm I have actually done that! I would't have posted on this forum without doing the obvious first!

As Kelmar have said, you'd be surprised at the kind of questions we see here (for a rather politically incorrect slang, you can call them 'blonde moments'). You didnt specify, so someone had to get rid of the blindingly obvious first.

As for the if you were the only person, well, you're the first I've seen (me only). Most people I know, when they try to browse for apps and cant find what they're looking for in the first 3 pages, continue doing so on a computer. You can directly install from App Market on your browser to your phone.

Anyway, what connection are you using? WiFi? 3G?

Well after a day of searching around I'm getting absolutely nowhere with this. The problem seems unsolvable:

The latest version of the appstore has this glitch that prevents more than 500 apps being displayed. (well it seems the case with Gingerbread anyway).

You can't revert back to an earlier version of the store because it just insists on updating. As far as I'm aware you can't switch this off.

So there you have it - Stalemate.
