App that reads as you type?

Wop

Lurker
I have an illiterate friend who previously had a phone that would say each letter aloud, and once a word was formed it would read it aloud. This is for everywhere on the phone: texts, FB, etc. This is not just within an app you have to open separately. He swears an app did it but after 3 hours of downloading apps I've found nothing. Little help?

Hi @Wop, and welcome to Android Forums :)

What you describe sounds a bit like Talkback, a suite of accessibility tools which is frequently built-in to Android. You can enabled it under Settings > Accessibility > Talkback, and the Talkback settings include an option for Keyboard Echo ("Always speak typed keys").

Awesome! I think this should suffice. It reads out A LOT of information so it'd be less intrusive if he could turn it on using the "two fingers Phone options" shortcut indicated on the attached screenshot. I can't figure out what it needs to activate. The LG G Stylo has no "options". I tried doing it on the Settings button to no avail. You've already helped greatly as he is a landscaper and his customers communicate via text so we sincerely thank you, codesplice.
