I'm new on this forum....

I have a question that I can't find a easy question...

What's the difference between you close one app using:

1-Back Button
2-Main Button
3-Using that menu when you hold the main button.

My phone is a Galaxy Note with Ice Cream Sandwich.

I know that back button close almost every app (Chrome doesn't close). The main button let the app running and the menu when you hold the main button I have no ideia what it does....

Thanks!!

Doesn't it depend on rom and/or launcher configuration? If I long-press the back button it will say "application killed". Otherwise it's just a back step, & home key goes... home (on my CM7).

Android is designed to let you 'forget' about apps by using back or home key. You'll notice up to a certain point you recall the page you were on in tapatalk or browser, but android may close it after some minutes. Some apps like music players will remember where you stopped a track. I think it depends on the app.

If I long press the back button doesn't do anything. I really want to know what's point of sliding to the side the app on that menu (menu that show when you long press the main/home button)

Ok, since I am getting a bit confused by the terms lets correct them.

1. Yes back button
2. The main button on the bottom center of the Note is called the "home" button. It has a house icon in other configurations
3. The list of apps you get when you long press the home button is the "recent apps menu."

1. Now, using the back button to get out of an app is essentially the same as pressing an exit button. Also, if you mean Chrome as in the browser with the phone, that's not Chrome. Chrome is a separate app. You can close the browser by manually closing the tabs though, by going into "new window" and pressing the x button on the tabs, and then backing out of the app.

2. Pressing the home button sends the app to the background, and depending on the nature of the app, it would either hold on standby, or work continuously.

3. Long pressing on the back key is a ROM specific feature for CyanogenMod Android versions. Just like how long pressing on the menu button on a Galaxy phone brings up search.

4. Long pressing on the home button brings up the recent apps list. Basically you can go back to the apps you used previously. Swiping an app there unloads the app from memory. For example you were working on something in Polaris Office. If you return to it via the recent apps menu, it would go back to where you stopped using it. Swiping it out of the recent apps menu SHOULD make it so that when opening Polaris, you go back to the file selection menu.
