I'd think that some anti-theft apps might be able to do this, though it will depend on exactly what you want. I know that Avast can do some things in response to SMS, but I imagine it's only SMS from certain pre-registered phones (you wouldn't want anyone on the planet to be able to locate you by text, after all).
I want it like this:
-I have a device with the app.
-I set a few numbers which can access my location.
-From one of the set numbers, I send a message with some keyword.
-App recognizes that, gets the location and sends it back to that number.
I don't really need such an app. But it's good to have one for lost and found situations. Because I usually keep internet off on my phone and Android Device Manager needs internet...
I just checked their documentation, which can be found here. It can locate in response to an SMS, but it looks like you need to use a browser to see the location (via an Avast account) rather than it replying via SMS. This did all used to be free.
