App to root phone? Or easy root method

okay ive download android 2.1 and it looks great. is there an app to unstall to sd...? ive tried rooting my phone. i did throught the dialer, but 'enable root permisson' doesnt come up. ive download z4root on my device....but when i plug my usb to cable nothing happens but charging...no usb mount or anything! it worked yesturday!!!!?? help...just want an easy way to root my phone...(LG SWIFT)
