App to shut off specific data?

GEE_911

Newbie
Im still having a data eating problem :( I want to know if there is an app that allows me to shut off data, but only for certain apps (I want to keep FB, twitter and email on, but everything else off until i need it) Or is there anything even close to that, that i can use???

Also why does this android settings thing eat so much airtime? I used a data info app, and showed that adroid settings (or something) ate like 40Mb's!

BTW: Im using an Optimus one if that helps...

It controls data connections. Re read my post. I specifically addressed that and didn't even mention battery.

I use it myself for this purpose, to control data connection. I don't use it for battery purposes.

But you said it only controls one apps data, i need to control about 10... I haven'y linked a credit card with the store yet, so i need a free app that i can use :(

Anyone know if a south african credit card works on the android market? How would i go about creating an account with a credit card?

The paid version, Ultimate Juice, controls data for as many apps as you want it to control.

I think you can link replenishable credit cards (like from a local supermarket, drugstore) -- to the Market. I'm not familiar with international use of credit cards and the Market, so hopefully someone else can chime in.

There is no harm is trying out the free app and seeing if the free one is good enough for your needs. You still have to read through it, though. Good apps with a lot of functionality usually require reading.

Thanks tried it out, its pretty good, hopefully tomorrow i get the CC sorted out, then my first few paid apps will that, double twist, and whatsapp :)

It does what you want. You just need to read through it.

Booklover: This post about Juice defender was exactly what I need. I travel to Canada all the time. With my Sprint BB, the reduced roaming charges weren't that bad. With my new android phone things are constantly syncing and checking data and the first 12 hours in country cost me $60 in data costs. I wanted a way to quickly shut off all apps from accessing data except for texts, Pop mail and the internet when I want to look something up. When I saw your post I bought JD ultimate immediately. But after an hour of going through screens and testing I can't figure out how to make the settings I want. I found the page that lets you control apps but I couldn't figure out how to make the settings so I could turn control of all but a few apps on and off. Since you use it for this, would you might taking a moment to explain it? I need to know what settings to choose for the apps I want to stop and the ones I don't want to stop and I need to know how to cause the JD control to turn on and off when I enter and leave Canada. Thanks,

Dave
