App updates

i updated a few apps on my phone the other day and i noticed that the gmail app is 10.37mb, google maps is 10.15mb, facebook 5.93mb, and voice search is 4.41mb

but if i uninstall the updates it goes to about half of what they are. so is there any way of deleting the original app, or anyway of reducing the size??

any help lads??

edit: i have a htc desire with 2.2

I can't even move them over to the sd card. can you?? is yours rooted?? mine is and i have app2sd but i cant move those apps over. ive only got like 15mb left by now

I've done all the updates and that sounds about right except for gmail, remembering maps caches data, so you can clear that periodically.

As for gmail, mine is only 184k.

how is that possible?? is yours on your sd or internal??

for gmail i have 4.43mb on the app and then 5.83mb data which im assuming is emails.

and for the maps my cache is 0 and data 228kb so......

Certain apps like gmail and maps can't be moved to the sd card. It is internal.

bit off topic but you like like you know a thing or two about rooting,

tired to s-off but it got stuck on step 3, pulled battery out and not is stuck in h-boot. it says up the to 'alpharev' and s-off, i doubt it worked though since im stuck in h-boot.

im running the stock rom no custom. and i have add2sd, i read somewhere that that could of caused the problem, but i have no way of getting back??

any help??
