App updates

Hello all,

I have a question. There are certain apps that can't be uninstalled because of the software pack that the android has. Kindle is one of them. I don't use it for nothing and it constantly asks me to update it.

Would just ignoring this affect the performance of the phone since it's part of the droid's "core-ware"?

Or better yet. Can I uninstall this app from my phone?

Thank you

Welcome to Android Forums.

I assume you are running on a Droid X and you are not root-ed. If that is the case why not just accept the update and try to ignore the fact that you have some pre-installed software that you cannot remove.

if you want to you can
root with framaroot apk
install droid 3 bootstrap, and create a nandroid backup
install titanium backup with pro key, and freeze unwanted stock apps
but care must be taken, removing some apps can cause others to be unstable or to bootloop.
there should be a list of safe apps to freeze, I'll post a link if I find it.
if you freeze/remove wrong app and phone bootloops, you will have to restore stock rom with rsd lite and a .sbf file (same version that is currently on phone)
links can be found in my list
sd_shadow's [Collection] of Links for: Droid X (MB810)

edit:
here is a list of bloat, for the Droid 2 global, but same basic software
GB 4.5.606 bloat
