App Worth Paying For

Hi treasunpearlapps, welcome to the site!

I moved your thread from the App Announcements forum over to the Android Applications forum since you aren't posting about a new app announcement :)

Such a broad question.

I will pay for an app if it does what I want and does it well. I'll donate if a free app does the same. I've also paid for icon packs, if it looks sharp I'm in.

It really sort of depends on what I'm looking for and what mood I'm in at the time :)

I have no problem paying for, or donating to, a well written app and hard working developer.

I'm with Clem on this. I've paid for many different types of apps, including music players, file managers, calendars, at least 1 message app, forum apps, system monitors, icon packs, widgets, launchers, etc.

I do like to have the chance to try an app for long enough to tell whether it does what I want before paying, so a free or trial version is appreciated - the 15 minute refund period of the Play Store is too short for most apps. But if I'm going to use it long term then I'll pay for it.

+1 with both Clementine_3 and Hadron.
If it is good, not a problem paying for their work.
They really do not cost much. The most costly one I just purchased was Titanium backup, well worth it. Got it because I finally found enough good information to root my phone without too much worry about doing it. And that good info came from this site.

I don't know if it answers your question, but a quick review of my account says I have purchased the following apps:

  • Adobe Photoshop Touch
  • ADW APEX GO - ICS Plates Theme
  • ADWLauncher EX
  • At Bat 13 (MLB.com At Bat)
  • Beautiful Widgets Pro
  • Group SMS Pro
  • IP Cam Viewer Pro
  • PrinterShare

Audubon Birds, Wildflowers, Trees, Mushrooms
I know about Birds
Sibley Birds
Vortex
Mobile Observatory
Sky Safari Plus
Colorado Wildflowers
Mushrooms Pro
XID weeds
Aquamail
ADW Launcher
Beam Reader
Block Tool
Pocket Money - Side upgrade, had it on Palm.
Titanium backup
Super Keyboard Pro.

I have At Bat, but it was free since I subscribed to the main app on ROKU
The manual for the Canon SX50 is on the phone. It's in PDF format.
Image Shrink (I think)

There's others on the tablet.

I'm not averse to buying apps if they are what I want.

Looking for a photo editor with no frames, modes, and other stuff. I don't need or want the cutesies.

Well, I don't know how to pull up my paid apps in the Play Store. I know I've paid for:

Apex Pro
Touch Calendar
PocketCasts
Titanium Backup
Poweramp
ROM Toolbox Pro
Root Explorer
Swype
TapeMachine
USB OTG app
Zooper Widget Pro
Various widgets
Various themes
Various games
Donation app for ROM settings

Back when Google would have app sales ($0.10-0.25 per app) I picked up a bunch of other stuff on the cheap like ADW Launcher, Soundhound ∞, SlideIT, Swiftkey, games, etc.

I've also bought pretty much every Humble Bundle with Android games.

I think you'll find most of the community here are perfectly willing to pay for quality apps. That might not hold true for the average Android user, though.

You might look at this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/collection/topselling_paid

As someone else mentioned, I'm not likely to buy an app unless it comes with a free version that I can try for while with only a few features missing. If I like it and use it (and there are no better alternatives in sight), then I'll pay for the extra features our to remove ads (ads make me far less likely to even try it though...I hate them)

Other than that, it's rare that I'll buy an app. Part of the reason is peer...I mean spouse pressure. My wife already thinks I spend too much time and money on my phone. She sees every purchase on the credit card, even if it is only $0.99

Is there an easy way for me to get a list of apps I've paid for?
(After three years I certainly don't remember all of mine...I'm curious where folks got their lists earlier in the thread)

I figured it out. Find a "receipt" from Google Play in inbox and follow the link.

Here's what I have paid for over the last 3 years. In looking back, I'm surprised how many I don't use anymore. Oh well.

electricpete,
That's a lot of apps.
Not anywhere that many here but when it comes to the best one and most used has to be RadarNow! premium. If you want to know when the storm is going to hit, that one shows it.
