Appbrain

It mostly keeps track what people are installing on their phones to offer stats for developers, and "what's hot" for users. But for users the best part is the website I think. Allows you to search the market for apps.

It can maintain a list of apps that you might want to add in the future, and it's much easier searching for and reading about apps on a 24" screen compared to a 4" screen. In addition, there are many additional categories to explore than the "apps" and "games" found on the Market.

Biggie here...

It allows you to search the market on a regular computer (non-android device).

It also allows you to pre-populate apps for a new phone. There is also even more app reviews and testimonials, including soft changelogs.

I use the "skip this update" feature in Appbrain on my phone.

Some apps (like the recent Aldiko upldate) had bad reviews and I didn't want it to update on my phone, but when I open the MARKET app, Aldiko is always there to be updated. However, when I open the Appbrain app on my phone, the Aldiko update is NOT there for me to update.

I also find it's easier to uninstall apps in Appbrain because you can easily sort the apps by date (up/down) or name (up/down) - and when you uninstall, it doesn't ask you why you did it. I never like answering that question when I uninstall from the Market.
