Apple is screwed... lol

That is a horrible analogy. Saying android is a high tech Japanese watch compared to a rolex? I phone is definitely not the rolex of smartphones

Actually it is a great analogy as I was comparing one thing only: design quality/build not hardware/software. I don't suppose Jonathan Ive was given worldwide awards because he is a fanboy. Last time I checked the silver lining on my S3 was peeling off.

You compared android in general, just because you phone is made cheaply doesn't mean all Androids are, my razr maxx build quality is amazing.

Android isn't a phone. Its a OS they put on a phone. If you want to compare it with the clock analogy then go with a nexus and an iphone. Bingo :P.
Build quality varies with the manufacturer.

You do realize a lot of the people with iPhones had that reception problem. Not to mention the fact that the glass commonly shatters on the newer models.

None of these are perfect. These two different OS's would be better looked at as two different things entirely. They're both useful as tools to the people who own them.

One more simplistic with a lack of customization, yet efficient.

One more open to customization and a bit more flashy, yet just as efficient.

The consumer though, They are the ones choosing which tool fits them best.

If this is a serious question, then you are doing it wrong! I've never rooted any of my Android phones and I have a list a mile long of things I can do that ios cannot do. Just off the top of my head; live wallpapers, widgets, 3rd party apps, app drawer, arrange icons the way I want them, replace icons, replace the launcher, modify the dock (scrolling, etc), data and voice at the same time (Verizon), etc.

I would think longer and add more features, but I don't think you are really listening anyway. ;)

arrange icons the way you want? im pretty sure you can do that on iOS, and thats not functionality thats just customization, which honestly i dont really care about. Ill give widgets a plus though widgets are pretty cool but its not a huge one, espcially if the app the widget derives from is poorly coded, then that widget will just eat your battery up. 3rd party apps, yeah real good thats where all the viruses are at bro. everything you listed isnt really anything

Apple will keep the faithful happy with this!

iphone10.jpg

lmao i believe android will get there before iOS does

Wow now that's an Iphone 34! :D Just another reason to not get an Iphone 5 they are removing everything google from their phones to offer their mediocre software...

Err no you can't. iOS will place them all in a row. You can move them from screen to screen but you can't arrange them in any sort of pattern etc. Unless you jailbreak of course.

It doesn't matter what Apple bring out, it could even be a brick covered in turds and the fanbois will think it's the messiah, running around after it with shoes on their sticks.:D

Pretty sure my safestrap or any other 3rd party app I have ever installed has never had a virus.

It all goes back to having control of what you want and what you want to be able to do in your device.

I will take the risk of viruses by being able to install 3rd party apps over the locked down nature of the iPhone any day

Here are a couple more for you all

Apple's Maps app slammed over missing cities and other mistakes | Apple - CNET News

a user comment from below the article

"As far as missing cities go - Penn Hills, PA doesn't exist. It's only a suburban municipality of about 50,000. Easily overlooked?

a reply

It's on purpose. Apple feels that including cities it feels are sub-standard would ruin the mobile experience. They are only doing what's best for you ;-)"

"Well if Android Google Maps were a 10/10
Apple Google Maps would be a 6/10
Apple maps would be a 1/10

That is all..."

now this is apple again but starting to be like .......... you fill in the blank

Apple apparently fixes iOS 6 Wi-Fi bug | Apple - CNET News

a piece from it

"It's not certain who first solved the mystery, or how. But a Twitter user named tylerc found that iOS checks a certain Apple Web page to make sure that Wi-Fi doesn't require a login. For some reason, that page was down."

What is this about ??? control??????

Lmao did you guys look at that tumblr Site? Freaking ridiculous. And apple talked about how revolutionary apple maps would be. What a joke

Are Apple legally allowed to call iOS6 "the world's most advanced mobile operating system" in their product descriptions? I know in the UK we have a Trades Descriptions Act where you can't make unfounded claims to be the best.

iPhone 5 - View Our Pay Monthly Tariffs - Three Official Site

I particularly like the "Features you won't find anywhere else" section...

Multi-Touch, anyone?

I can only assume they mean Features you won't find anywhere else when we are through suing everyone.

They'd probably justify it by saying it was the newest, which is true, and that it was the latest version of IOS thus making it the "most advanced".

That might be how they would justify it, but "most advanced", to me, suggests most sophisticated or most highly featured, not just the latest.

In this country you can't call something the most advanced unless it is the most advanced. Does iOS support USB Audio? Does it support NFC? Does it support four processor cores? It might be the most recently released, but it isn't necessarily the most advanced.

This is kind of far from the SGS3 at this point.

How about continuing at http://androidforums.com/lounge/620578-happy-iphone-5-day.html and letting me close this one for you? :)

I could even merge this one with that one if you cats prefer.

Idea is simple - freeing the slot on the thread list here for SGS3 issues, for great justice and the greater good.

Discuss, decide, let me know how many Apple threads we really need around here.

Cheers, thanks! :)

Should we start a new thread for this?

/jk

I don't see why not merge with another thread. Although I understand how maybe people frequent this particular forum not really venturing outside to post, and that is why you get, for instance, Apple-themed threads appearing in a phone-specific forum like the SGS3.

Although I am not opposed to merging threads, I do think that sometimes a new thread is created to discuss a certain aspect of an issue, and that discussion can get lost if merged with other threads. I was even half-debating whether to create a new thread asking my question above, about the legality of making self-aggrandizing claims in product descriptions, but in the end decided not.

You can have too many threads, but also too few. I guess if care is taken to merge threads that are close in theme and avoid lumping disparate issues together into general threads, then it is beneficial.

People will just have to start reading and posting in the Lounge forum more often. :)

Whoa there, this is my ship thank you very much... no mutiny allowed :D

It really ****s me off things like that.

An example,

Microsoft was ruled and fine for shipping Internet Explorer with Windows and has to offer a selection now.

Apple,

Removes integrated Google Maps and forces users into Apple maps

What's the difference? It's a joke tbh.

What makes me laugh about threads like this is the majority of posters slating the i fanboys don't realise that is exactly what they are themselves, a bunch of fanboy bandwagon jumpers, i bet 90% of them haven't used an iphone in their lives.

I owned the first 4 Iphones. Most of the people I know who are Android users were iphone owners. I think there are more of us out there than you think:).

I personally think it's Iphone users who've never used Android who are in denial. They've upgraded from Iphone to Iphone and are just so entrenched in Apple's ecosytem that they either don't know anything about Android and just listen to the rabid Apple fans. Or are just so stubburn to give up IOS that they defend it to the death.

Look the I5 is a nice looking durable phone, nobody is debating that. But Android is such a great OS with improvments that make IOS look, well static and boring, and that's what fans of IOS don't get. That's the reason I jumped to Android at least.

If people like the Iphone and want to keep using it, that's cool (hell, I own an Ipad and a couple of Ipods). If people want to stand in line for hours or days with the media fixed with their TV cameras on them. Or wake up in the middle of the night and pre-order the I5 that's their prerogative. Personally I'm not going to waste a vacation day or miss some solid rack time to buy any phone, but hey to each their own.

As for the flame wars going on over on Youtube. It's usually teenagers and morons on both sides doing that. As for the supposed flame war going on this site. I think it's pretty tame and mature compared to the stuff I've read on the Verge, Engadget, Mac Rumors and Android Central. And I hope it stays this way!!!
