Apple man switching to android. Help!

I have used iPhone from day 1 and am an apple enthusiast; however I am not fanboy. I've come to the realization that the iPhone no longer does what I want and has gotten stale. I want to jump to android, but I am having trouble on picking a device. I preordered a nexus 7 because it looked amazing and can't wait to play with it so my tablet is taken care of. As far as a phone, I know the Galaxy III is extremely popular and it looks amazing, but for some reason I prefer the feel and build of the galaxy nexus. Is the galaxy nexus a bad investment in comparison? I am so new to android, any help would be appreciated:)

The nexus line of products will never be the best android phones on the market just based on technical specifications and things like screen size, camera quality etc. However, since they are the flagship line by google, they are the best supported devices and always get updates first. If you were to buy a galaxy nexus right now you would probably instantly be updated to 4.1 jelly bean. You will have to decide exactly what you want from your phone and look around to see which carriers are offering which phones and etc. If I could pick any device on the market right now it would be the HTC One X, just because the display and camera are considered the best in the world on a phone right now, and I love the HTC form factor and build quality. But right now I have the Nexus S (the predecessor to the galaxy nexus) which is my first android device and I still really enjoy it. As part of the nexus line it will be getting the jelly bean update this month. Good luck choosing. The good thing with android is that there are so many good phones to choose from. It's a good problem to have.

S3 is a great phone, if it's better than the s2!

Nexus hasn't got quite as good specs, and I think there will be one due out later this year. Out is by no means a bad phone, and will always get the software updates first.....jelly bean!

The S3 is a great phone, it's rival is the HTC One X which is also a top end phone... both definitely worth checking out, the Nexus is a phone for Android purists I think, lovely bit of kit but very plain... you can do more with it if you are into tinkering with the OS.

well , I think the galaxy s3 is kinda the best phone right now and it have a great performance but the galaxy nexus gets more updates , the nexus isn't bad at all and it never lags but the s3 still better :)

the flagship lines always tend to be the better(currently) phones. im a bigfan of motorola, but have since jumped to the nexus. which btw is absolutely beautiful. im coming from an X2 so even tho the nexus isnt top of the line anymore, its still amazing. fast, responsive, clear as crystal, and a giant darn screen that u can just look at and say" yea, this phone is awesome". i also have an ipod and i never cared for apples software. i like the freedom of android. but with freedom comes responsibility and u can screw things up if u venture into unfamiliar territory blindfolded.

if u decide to root( which i dont do but thats just me) read read and read some more. its
very simple to do but u still gotta be careful. goodluck and i hope which ever phone u choose makes u happy. i jumped from blackberry to android and have never regretted it.
