Application to block telemarketers?

Hello

I have a BlackBerry 8520 but it seems like no application is available for this, so am considering switching to Android.

I would like the phone to silently (ie. no ring/beep) handle incoming calls thusly:
  • if CID is blocked, play a message eg. "You have called with your number hidden. Please leave a message so I know who you are and why you called"
  • if the number is shown and belongs to my blacklist, answer the call to play a message eg. "Your number has been blacklisted", and hang up
  • if a text message contains SPAM to prompt me to call a premium number, silently delete the message.

Does such an application exist for Android?

Thank you.

A number of Android UIs and apps will block unwanted callers. I don't know if they do what you're asking, specifically (like the pre-recorded message), but if you're in the US, you can register with the Do not call list.

https://www.donotcall.gov/

I haven't received a telemarketer call since registering.

Every phone with a working number in my house, including my landline (for years), have been added to the Do Not Call Registry. Id recommend it to everyone. ;)

Unfortunately with a landline, it does not cover non profit organizations. I'm not sure what the laws are for cell phones in that regard.

Thanks for the info. I'm not located in the US, and the local equivalent to the DNC Registry isn't reliable as some telemarketers don't check and don't care that I added myself to that list.

I'll try to find recommanded applications for Android.
