Apply zip from SD

I want to update my phone through applying a zip through my sd card. So whenever I go to my recovery mode, and try to Apply any zip from SD, the phone says "can't mound SDCARD:" and I am positive that their is a file/zip in my sdcard. I am running android system recovery 0.5.2 and how can I update my phone?
 
Looks to be problem with the SD card not getting recognized in the recovery mode. not with the fact on the availability of the update zip on the SD card.
