Apps accessing gallery, pics out of order

I am having a problem with apps such as the OfferUp app not being able to access the picture gallery in order. I have my pics stored on an SD card. When I click Gallery on the phone, the pics are in date order, as I scroll down the pics are older. The pics are sorted by album Camera, Download, etc in the Gallery.

When I access the pics in apps(such as OfferUp, the order of the pics is all mixed up with Download pics intermixed with recent Camera pics. This problem is only evident when using the apps. Tapping right into Gallery, the pics are in chronological order.

Anyone know what would cause this error? Seems like it might be an SD card issue. I would appreciate any suggestions how to correct the order of pics when apps access my phone Gallery. Thank you.

Phone is a Kyocera Duraforce Pro, if it matters.

seems like it is more of an app issue then anything else. maybe contact the developer of the app.

I think it is a problem with the micro SD card and not with the app. It is not just the one app either. It is any app on my phone that accesses the gallery. Is there a way to defrag or streamline the info on the micro SD card?

The problem only began about 2 weeks ago when the phone decided on it's own to dis-mount the micro SD card even though it was installed in the phone still. It has done this dismount the micro SD card a couple times over the last 12 months. Is this a sign of a dying micro SD card? Thank you.

You're using Linux--and we don't have silly, unnecessary problems like on windows, hence there is no such thing as needing to 'defrag' a disk.

Files are not stored in alphabetical [or any other human-meaningful] order on storage media. Displaying them that way is a function of the app you're using. So something must have changed...somewhere, somehow, if your apps used to display them sorted a particular way but no longer do.

I would start by checking those apps' settings to see if there's any sorting option(s). Barring that, it's possible that updates (app and/or system) could have changed the apps' behavior.

And, yes, It's possible that your SD card is dying/become corrupted. If none of the above helps, save its data, reformat it, try again, and if you're still getting the same result, buy a new card! But if you get the same results with it, it's an app issue.

You're approaching this problem from the wrong angle. It's most definitely an app issue. Check in that OfferUp app's settings to change now it displays your photos. Or whatever app you're using. This has nothing do with where your photo files reside, it's all about the photo managing app you're using to view your photos. The photo files are completely inert while in your internal storage or microSD card, they don't move around, they don't change how they're arranged. Once they get written to whatever storage media, they just 'sit' there as is. It's the app you're using is that detects those inert photo files and displays them accordingly -- it might be sorted by date, or by name, or whatever category specified. Some apps are more limited in their feature sets, some are more expansive so it's all dependent on the app you're using. Again, look in the settings menu of the app you're using.
