I have an Ainol Aurora which isn't particularly nippy. Fed up with it crawling to a halt, I installed Android Assistant to see if it could tell me anything useful. The resource stats didn't show anything unusual for memory or CPU usage, but what I was surprised at was the number of apps that it offered to kill at startup: I had no idea at all that so many apps were doing this.
I can understand some apps like Gmail or Ebay launching at startup, because of the need for background notifications, but it's telling me that I have apps like Sky News, Pocket, TuneIn Radio and Aldiko launching at startup. I have never asked these apps to start automatically. Whilst Android Assistant will kill these pest apps at startup, I'm wondering if there is a way of not letting them start up automatically at all? I have a suspicion that some of them also start up again after being killed off.
