Help apps start up at random????

Is it normal for the DHD to randomly start apps up. Whenever I use app killer to close down an app that I have just used, there are always many other apps running that I know I didn't start up. Is this normal behaviour for the DHD or has mine got a fault? Thanks

Some of them are Android services that run in the background like Facebook and Twitter to get you notifications. If these apps/services weren't running you wouldn't get notifications until you opened in the application.

Other option is to give this app a try - basically it lets you control which apps launch on startup of your phone. You'd be surprised how many apps start up with the device and this can help control it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bright.startup2
