Apps started stopping and phone wouldn't restart

Sorry if this is a bit long.

I've got an orange uk phone that was running orange branded BVLPB firmware and flashed neat LPI to it as follows.

1. I rooted it using the temperary clockwork mod and installed superuser and busybox.
2. Made a clockwork mod backup and a titanium backup.
3. Booted into cwm recovery and ran Hawkers rom nuke and flashed neat rom on saturday evening. I restored all user apps and data from titanium as well as swype as the version in neat LPG keeped stopping.
4. Restored the dialler data to get my text messages back on sunday afternoon.
5. At about 7.30 I installed JKAY LPI framwork supplied by Hawker and bought the deluxe settings app and played about with the settings.

At this point eveything was fine, I used facebook, sent some texts, made some calls, used whatsapp, did a bit of internet, watched some video on moboplayer and read some emails during the day.
At 5pm ish, on the way home, I browsed the web a bit more then tried to watch the rest of the video I had watched in the morning and moboplayer started asking to download a new codec. I closed it and restarted and got the same thing and couldn't watch a video. Then words free stopped working, facebook wouldn't open and neither would titanium backup or the battery stats page.

I tried to restart the phone and it shutdown andon restart sat at the sgs2 screen for a few minutes without getting any further. I pulled the battery and restarted it to the same end. At this point I booted into recovery, did a backup of the phone and restored it to the backup made on saturday. It then worked fine.

Anyone got any idea what happened as it had been fine for 8 hours and I didn't download or update any apps after the jkay settings app?
