Help Apps uninstalled during a restart....wth?

Ok, this was extremely weird & since my first android in Feb 2010, I've never had this happen. First before I explain what happened, I just got my Connect on Sat, I haven't rooted yet simply because I'm still reading through posts learning everything I can about this phone. So I have Android Assistant from the market. You can back up your apps with that & restore them. All my apps are from the market, I have free & paid apps both. When I got this phone I went ahead & was able to update all my apps because I had the space to do so. Any app that could be moved to my sd card, I did so through AA. All that being said, here is what happened.
One of my roommates has the Esteem. He had changed out his battery & turned his phone back on & when he heard the, "MetroPCS hello hello hello" he said, I hate that. I said, well then change it. I then said, I'm lucky, mine doesn't say it at all. Now he's a bit of an asshat & he said if doesn't say it then you changed it, all metro phones say it. I told him I hadn't rooted yet so I couldn't get into the files to change anything. Then I just restarted my phone to show him. When my phone came back on, I was missing about 18 apps, including my windows 7 theme, Android Assistant, Beautiful Widgets, & many more. On my screens, it just showed an icon with the green Android man & under it said, loading. If I pressed it, it said something like, app does not exist. They weren't in my app drawer, when I checked settings & manage applications, they weren't there, they weren't on my sd card. So I went to the market & downloaded Android Assistant again & went to batch installation & just reinstalled all that went missing. I have never had a batch of apps like that uninstall themselves. I haven't had any other problems with the phone & have plenty of internal space, memory & I clean my cache a few times a day. Has this happened to anyone else?

I have had my sd card blanked on reboot. Phone said it was blank, so I reinstalled the sd card and all all was back to normal. That was scary.

I would gather in your case,... the culprit was that app (android assistant). I also gather the missing apps are the ones you moved with that app.

Maybe others have had problems with that app, cause I never heard anyting like that happen with this handset. Check the play store for AA and look at the customer reviews to see if anyone else had this problem. Look at the one star reviews.

I used to have this issue on my indulge. I guess is not linking to the apps on your SD card. I got rid of that issue on my indulge by installing links2sd from the market, it's free

Like other guys said sometimes I also have the problem that my installed app after rebooting phone shows a grey icon with the Android and it can't be open... I just UNMOUNT the memory and MOUNT it back..
But I can always see them in my SD Card, even when they say they r not installed.... It s like the shortcut is not finding the link address to the memory card and unmounint and mouting re load the apps...
Now if they dissapeared from your sd card thats a new story that never happend to me.

I have used Android Assistant for well over a year with no problems. I don't think that was the problem. When I get ready to root I'm going to buy a new sd card & start over again. This is still the card that came with my Evo. Besides, I had numerous apps uninstall, but not all so why would we want to lay the blame at Android Assistant's feet? The app has 4.5 stars & is always listed in the best apps lists. I don't know what the problem was, but it wasn't that.....
