Just been looking at what is using my battery up with badass battery monitor, clicked view times waking device. top 4 are

Android system 141 times in 20 hrs
Viber 122
Google services 108
Maps 65.

This has used 30% of battery even tho I dont use viber, Google or maps.

Any way of stopping this?

maps has also used 6hrs of sensor time, so has Any.Do and the dialler 20hrs even tho no calls made.
Any.Do and Maps using 5% of power even tho not used.

Or am I misunderstanding it all?

Press the "off" button? :D

Kidding, depends how long your battery is lasting, 30% in 3 hours is alot worse than 30% in 10 hours. Make sure you're not doing much syncing, have stuff "off" that you don't need or use (like "shake" in Any.do, that could be using your sensors). Leave auto-syncing off. Use airplane mode at night. Power Tudor is a good app to actually see amount of juice use by each app (just be sure to turn it off when you're not testing with it).

thanks, what does airplane mode do?
I usually turn off 3g, wifi and sync and only use gps and bluetooth when needed (not often).

Airplane turns off "everything". I find that with airplane mode on I only lose 1-2% in 12 hours (used each night).

Out of curiosity, when do you charge your phone? I assume you have a reason for not charging at night, thus eliminating the need to save battery power at night.

may as well switch it off then, which kinda defeats the purpose!!:D

sometimes I think smart phones are too smart for their own good:D

Airplane mode is meant for what it is named for, when you are in an airplane and can't use your phone. By turning airplane mode on you disable the radios but can still use apps on the phone (like a music player, games, etc).

I am still unsure why putting the phone into airplane mode at night was brought up in the discussion. I think most people leave their phone on the charger at night, so putting it in airplane mode to save battery isn't necessary.
