apps with PC sync, not cloud based

What apps are there that will allow me to enter and manage the data and backup all on PC? Not just enter /manage on the smartphone and backup to a cloud. I do not like all my data going to some cloud server.
App types I am looking for are:
- tasks/to-do's
- information lists
- journal/diary
Any advice is appreciated.

You might check out MyPhoneExplorer. I just installed it yesterday to sync Outlook with my phone (contacts, tasks, notes). Much better than HTC Sync. You install the program on your PC, a client on the phone and you can connect via BT, WiFi, USB. You can also manipulate files and folders on the phone. And the best part, it's free (donations accepted).

I use "Syncback" on my PC. Just set up a back up profile for backing up SD card to a folder on PC. I just plug in USB cable, open Syncback, and run profile. Takes about 15 seconds to update existing data. I have 2 folders I back up (Internal" and "External").
