Archos 5 as a navigation (GPS) device

FrayAdjacent

Android Enthusiast
Probably early next year, I'm going to try to obtain a GPS nav device for use in the car and/or on the motorcycle. A big screen would be nice... I've seen some 5" and even 7" nav devices.

The navigation software on the A5... Worth a darn?

Yeah, that might be a good place.

Looks to me, though, that the nav software is a trial, and the Archos site doesn't mention the cost to get a license.

I HAVE found at least one open source navigation project that might work... but then I'm still wondering if an Android tablet would be the best idea for navigation, or if I should just find a dedicated navigation unit.

I'll continue to investigate and weigh my options since I won't be purchasing probably until spring.

It would be rather interesting, tho, to get a GPS puck and use my 101 up on my motorcycle. There's probably more than enough room on the top of the dash behind the screen!
