has any one taken a moment to read the permission that apps on google play request before you can download them ? its horrific, perhaps you know of an app called avast mobile security ?, this is the permission it requests:

to be able to:
-Revive and edit SMSs and MMSs.
-Modify and delete storage card contents.
-modify global system settings.
-Full internet access and thus giving you huge costs at month end.
-intercept outgoing phone calls.
-Read browser history and bookmarks.
-read sensitive log data.
-write contact data.

this is not the only one trust me... in fact i cant think of an app that does not request this level of permission but perhaps a little less but besides that it uses up valuable battery.

my question is: how do you install and use the apps without them having access to the above permission requirements, and please without rooting if possible.

The apps needs these permissions to work, depending on the app of course. Android is a sandboxed environment, meaning the apps can only access the areas where you gave them permission. For example, a flashlight app. A flashlight app needs permission for phone/camera hardware, because the flash is part of the camera hardware. without that permission, the app will not be able to turn on the flash for use.

That app is Avast Mobile Security. If you know of Avast Antivirus, well, they were made by the same company, and AV programs can access every single nook and cranny of your PC, and your internet connection. AV programs would need all those permissions to work.
-Revive and edit SMSs and MMSs - scans for malicious MMS files
-Modify and delete storage card contents. - scans for viruses and deletes them
-modify global system settings. - battery saving settings and location services for finding lost phone
-Full internet access and thus giving you huge costs at month end. - antivirus and malware signature updates
-intercept outgoing phone calls. - mobile security apps have call and SMS blocking and filtering features
-Read browser history and bookmarks. - its an AV. Obviously it scans for malicious websites
-read sensitive log data.- able to read phone logs, for selecting callers to block from history, among other things
-write contact data. - also connected to above.

Seriously, the only difference with Android permissions and Symbian or Apple apps is that Android tells you what permissions you are giving to an app, Symbian or Apple doesn't, and you have to rely on Apple or the app developer's honesty that they aren't taking advantage.
